Our History


Our history is a great combination of a long standing municipal engineering firm in Gamsby & Mannerow (G&M) meeting the innovative start-up infrastructure planning firm of BluePlan.

Our History

G&M began operations in 1966 and earned a reputation for excellence in Civil Engineering. G&M was founded on core municipal engineering experience and expertise covering the environmental, structural and land development service areas. The G&M offices in Guelph, Owen Sound, Listowel, Kitchener and Exeter employed highly trained engineers, technicians and technologists and provided the ability to service clients across Southwestern Ontario including the Greater Toronto Area. With nearly 50 years of history, G&M grew its depth of resources to over 85 staff.

BluePlan was founded in 2012 and was built on the expertise and experience developed through many collective years of the founding team in the industry. BluePlan was focused on growing a core niche service offering in infrastructure planning, asset management, hydraulic modelling and strategic advisory. BluePlan located its office in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area to provide services primarily to the extended GTA and Golden Horseshoe municipalities as well as across Canada. In a very short timeframe, BluePlan grew from 1 partner in a home office to 14 staff actively delivering projects across all core services and markets.

May 1 2014 marked the exciting first day as a new, integrated consulting firm – GM BluePlan Engineering Limited.

The GM BluePlan merger has provided our clients with a strong blend of complementary experience and expertise in the areas of Infrastructure Master Plans, Asset Management, Environmental Assessments, Hydraulic and Hydrologic Modelling and the proven capability of Detailed Design and Construction Administration in all facets of Private and Municipal Infrastructure. This allows GM BluePlan to support our clients throughout the full project life cycle.

A primary goal is to build on the common core principle of providing a high level of client service. With a broader reach of offices, greater staff resources, complementary individual services and enhanced capabilities to cover all aspects of project delivery; GM BluePlan is ideally suited to meet our clients’ planning and engineering needs. We will continue to prioritize personal one-on-one attention to every person and detail connected to our projects.

Since May 1 2014, the GM BluePlan history has been evolving. We have seen our team grow to over 140 staff as well as the openings of our new GTA office in Vaughan, our new office in Hamilton, and most recently our new office in London. These are exciting times for our staff and for what we can bring to our clients.
